Emilio Salgari - Last Voyage of the Corsaro Nero
The official inauguration of the Festa della
Marineria (Festival of the Navies) has been
given to the Corsaro Nero (the Black
Pirate) that legendary character created
by Emilio Salgari.
On the evening of June 16 the pier, Molo
Italia and the promenade, Passeggiata
Morin will be transformed into an aquatic
stage for the staging of the “Last Voyage
of the Corsaro Nero”, a unique
performance by the Compagnia Corona
Events, with plays of light, music, and
song evocating marine creatures, both
real and imaginary.
The spectacle is in homage to the great
writer from Verona—on the anniversary of
his death—who brought to millions of
Italians the essential essence of
adventure at
sea.
It is also
honors the
Unification of
Italy, as
Salgari’s
Sandokan
mirrored “the
hero of the
two worlds”,
and his
Yanes was
inspired by
Nino Bixio.
